Podcast16-Securing NAT Port Redirection with Port Knocking on DrayTek Routers

This podcast explains how to enhance the security of NAT port redirection using port knocking with Time-Based One-Time Passwords (TOTP). It details a method to temporarily open ports only for authorised users who know the correct port knock sequence, adding a layer of protection against malicious scans. The process involves configuring a port-knocking profile on a compatible DrayTek router and using a dedicated tool to initiate the port opening sequence. Once open, the ports remain accessible for a set time or until inactivity triggers a re-authentication. The document provides step-by-step instructions and troubleshooting tips for successful implementation. Security logs track successful port unlocking attempts.
