Latest Application Notes

Security

Use 2-Step mail Authentication for Remote Access

This application note shows how to set up 2-Step Authentication for the router’s remote access, and add a layer of security to the router.

When 2-Step Authentication is enabled, the Internet user will not only need the administrator password but also the Auth-Code sent to the specific phone number or email address, to log into the router’s management page.

Enhancing DNS Security in Vigor routers to protect users from malware and phishing

This application note discusses use of some public DNS servers which provide malware blocking and privacy guarantees to help protect your network from cyber threats as alternatives.

WAN

Change the VLAN ID range reserved by Vigor Router itself

Some ISP providers require a VLAN tag for Internet connection. However, we would find that Internet connection could not work when setting a specified VLAN tag value on WAN Interface. That may be due to the VLAN ID having been reserved by Vigor Router. In this case, we need to change the range of the VLAN ID reserved for the system to make the Internet connection work.
