VPN

In the example, we will use a Vigor2136ax router but the process is the same on all supported DrayOS 5 devices. The process involves creating and installing the required CA security certificates.

WireGuard is a secure, fast, and modern VPN protocol. A WireGuard VPN connection is established by exchanging public keys and aims to be significantly more efficient than Openvpn. We support this new VPN protocol on Vigor2962/3910 routers starting from firmware version 4.3.1. This article will demonstrate how to set up a WireGuard VPN tunnel between a Vigor3910 and Smart VPN Client.

System

The Smart Action feature with configuration change notifications via Telegram is useful for monitoring your Vigor Router. If the router or a server operating through it becomes unstable or suddenly stops working, you can quickly check the Telegram messages to determine if any recent configuration changes might have caused the issue.

Using the built-in Smart Action profiles, you can easily search for specific keywords and create a User-Defined Smart Action that includes only the information you need. This article will guide you through the steps to set up this feature.

Starting from firmware version 4.4.5, Vigor3912S will support saving Syslog messages to the router's internal storage, including the built-in SSD and the USB disk. This enhancement allows users to retain log information even without an external Syslog server, making it easier to troubleshoot and track events directly on the device.

This article will demonstrate the configuration steps.

More and more mail servers, including Google and Microsoft, are adopting the advanced OAuth 2.0 security authorization method to authenticate mail clients. Unlike traditional username/password authentication, OAuth authorization requires identity verification through a third-party application. Vigor Router supports this method, enabling it to send notification emails via such mail servers.

This article will explain how to configure a Vigor Router to use the OAuth 2.0 method for sending notification emails through the Gmail server.

LAN

Starting from version 5.3.2, Vigor2136 supports domain-based bandwidth control within hotspot quota policy profiles. This feature allows users to set separate bandwidth limits for specific domains or IP addresses in a quota policy.

This feature is handy in public Wi-Fi zones, such as holiday parks, cafés, or shopping centres, where users typically have limited bandwidth (e.g., 2Mbps/2Mbps). If a business wants users to access their website or paid services with better performance, they can allocate higher bandwidth limits to specific domains. This guarantees quicker and more reliable access to key sites, without impacting the default limits for other traffic.
